Mandurah Estuary Bridge Duplication Project Complete

The Mandurah Estuary Bridge Duplication project is complete, providing a safer and more efficient journey for residents and visitors to the Peel region.

The project has delivered a new two-lane bridge on the south side of the existing Mandurah Estuary Bridge, which opened to westbound traffic in February.

Following this traffic switch, new asphalt was laid and critical maintenance undertaken on the original bridge before it was permanently changed to two eastbound lanes this week.

With traffic now flowing freely across both bridges, travel is smoother and less congested for the 33,000 vehicles that cross the estuary every day.

The transformational project delivered by the Albanese and Cook Labor Governments has also provided quality recreational and community assets which are now complete.

New programmable lighting has been installed on both bridges, adding an eye-catching new element to Mandurah's skyline.

A four-metre shared path has opened under the new bridge with upgrades delivered to the existing path under the original bridge to improve access for people walking, wheeling or riding.

More than three kilometres of new noise and amenity walls are complete along with Aboriginal yarning circles and artwork on both foreshores, and a new all-abilities fishing platform under the new bridge.

The project has generated about 500 local jobs during construction and has exceeded targets for Aboriginal employment and business participation.

A free twilight community thank-you event will be held on Sunday, 3 May with registration details to be shared soon.

The $148.8 million project was jointly funded by the Albanese and Cook Labor Governments, with the Australian Government committing $68 million and the WA Government $80.8 million.
