Two people have been charged following the investigation into the sudden death of a child in July last year.
On July 7, 2022, a 3-year-old girl was transported to Townsville University Hospital in relation to a medical incident. She died later that day.
Townsville Child Protection Investigation Unit officers commenced Operation Uniform Baxteri to investigate the death of the child.
Police will allege a 25-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman, both from Oonoonba, failed to provide the necessities of life to a 3-year-old girl in their care, which resulted in her death.
They have both been charged with one count each of manslaughter and are due to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on February 13.
