Western Downs businesses are set to sharpen their competitive edge and embrace new opportunities at the upcoming Process Improvement Workshop at the Chinchilla RSL Memorial Club on Wednesday, 15 October 2025.
Supported by Western Downs Regional Council and facilitated by the Queensland Manufacturing Institute (QMI), the dynamic event will deliver hands-on, interactive sessions tailored for local manufacturers, equipping participants with practical tools and strategies to enhance productivity, boost efficiency, and foster sustainable long-term growth.
Western Downs Regional Council Spokesperson for Economic Development, Councillor Megan James said the event reflects Council's commitment to strengthening local industry and supporting a diverse regional economy.
"Attendees will have the chance to connect with fellow manufacturers participate in an Energy Savers Assessment and discover innovative approaches to making their businesses more sustainable and competitive," Cr James said.
"This is a unique opportunity for our local manufacturing sector to learn directly from industry experts, expand professional networks, and walk away with actionable solutions to reduce costs, improve operational efficiency, and drive business growth right here in the Western Downs."
Cr James said three distinguished guest speakers will lead the interactive workshop sessions to empower local manufacturers to boost productivity, workplace culture and readiness for future challenges.
"This initiative is about backing local manufacturers so they can grow, create steady jobs, and keep our region's economy strong and diverse.
"When we work together to invest in skills, new ideas, and ways to save energy, we're setting our manufacturing sector up to thrive into the future, making our local economy more productive and resilient.

The Process Improvement Workshop is supported by the Queensland Government's Regional Economic Futures Fund (REFF) aimed at supporting communities in Queensland to capitalise on industry development opportunities driven by global decarbonisation.
