A change to operational hours at Marlo Waste Transfer Station set to take effect from February 1, 2020., has been placed on hold until July 1, 2020, as a result of current bushfire relief and recovery activities.

Operating hours will be four days per week for three hours per day. Opening hours will be from 9am to 12pm on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. These operating times will take effect on July 1, 2020.

Community input guided East Gippsland Shire Council's decision last year to keep the Marlo Waste Transfer Station open, with modified operating hours.

Mayor Cr John White said it would not have been appropriate to change operational hours in the middle of the bushfire emergency.

"The new days and operating hours, when they come into effect on July 1, reflect survey feedback and community meeting sentiments as being the most convenient hours for the community to access the facility," Cr White said.

"The revised operational hours at Marlo will improve the operational efficiency while providing a long-term sustainable and cost-effective waste service to the community."

An upgrade of the site is planned as part of this year's capital works program.

The Orbost Transfer Station remains open seven days a week (Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm and Saturday and Sunday 10am to 3pm).
