The Social Domain Platform organized a regional meeting on homelessness on September 30 at the Pauluskerk in Rotterdam. At the invitation of Valente, the trade association for organizations that provide support to vulnerable people in our society, Martijn van den Brink was invited to speak about the rights of homeless EU citizens.
This year, the Platform Sociaal Domein is organizing nine meetings on tackling homelessness. The aim of these meetings is, among other things, to share knowledge and experiences about preventing and addressing homelessness, as well as to clarify the responsibilities and tasks of the various institutions involved.
At the regional meeting in Rotterdam, several breakout sessions were held. Topics included the growing number of vulnerable people staying in natural areas and the provision of safe housing for homeless people. In addition, Martijn, together with Merve Yikilmaz (Salvation Army), led a session in which the rights of EU citizens and the implementation of these rights at the local level were discussed.
