Martin Incident Charges

Armadale Detectives have charged a man in relation to an incident in Martin on Tuesday 3 January 2023, in which the driver of a vehicle was assaulted.
It will be alleged a white Toyota Hilux utility was being driven south on Tonkin Highway, and about 2:30pm, between Kelvin Road and Mills Road East, the driver of the Toyota drove extremely close behind a VW Passat. The driver of the VW attempted to move out the way of the Toyota by changing lanes, however it will be further alleged the driver of the Toyota continued to follow at close distance, in a reckless and dangerous manner.
The driver of the Toyota overtook the VW and it will be alleged he then braked heavily, causing both vehicles to come to a stop in the turning lane to Mills Road East. Both drivers exited their vehicles.
It will be alleged the driver of the Toyota punched the driver of the VW to his face several times and placed him into a 'headlock', restricting his ability to breathe. After collapsing to the ground, it will be alleged the victim was further assaulted.
Yesterday, Thursday 2 February 2023, the alleged driver of the Toyota, a 33-year-old man from Martin, was arrested. He has since been charged by Armadale Detectives with:
- Assault Occasioning Bodily Harm
- Impeded another person's normal breathing or blood circulation by applying pressure to neck
- Reckless Driving
He is due to appear in the Armadale Magistrates Court on Friday 24 February 2023.
