Small communities are capable of big success.

Dunolly continues to demonstrate a sense of vision and confidence in its future that is visible through the range of creative projects that community groups are driving. As a Council we need to enable that vision to be delivered.

Having developed our Priority Projects Plan of 14 key shovel ready projects for government investment, including the Deledio Reserve upgrade, we are now working on an Advocacy Strategy which will support the Plan and further focus on the case for Government investment into our Shire, especially for population growth. We have real capacity to grow and that growth provides new opportunities and added services which our community want.

The Advocacy Strategy will also focus on the services and resources which the Government provides and which we seek. Passenger rail is an important area and weekend services from Melbourne and Ballarat into our Shire in the mornings and returning afternoons is our top priority followed by added weekday services. We want services to be extended to Dunolly and that will support Dunolly's ability to grow and share in added prosperity and opportunity.

The rapid expansion of Ballarat's population which is pushing up through our rail corridor supports our business case. The City of Ballarat needs to support added rail services to accommodate that growth. We need the added rail services that growth can provide to attract people to live and work in our Shire. It is a strong case we are making to Government and a real opportunity for Dunolly to benefit if we are successful.
