Partnering with other councils helps Shire

Sometimes the challenges we face locally are bigger than our own shire, which is why we partner with adjoining councils to gain a momentum across our region.

One of these is the State Government funded Healthy Loddon Campaspe initiative, set up to improve the health and wellness of our communities across six council areas: Campaspe, Central Goldfields, Bendigo, Loddon, Macedon Ranges and Mount Alexander.

For example, turning on the lights at our Princes Park and Jubilee Ovals in the evenings on winter Fridays, encouraging individuals to stay active and keep fit, or else their free exercise programs to help make people more active in our parks.

Then there's the Sports Equipment Library where kids can borrow skateboards and scooters for free, so they can take advantage of our wonderful Skate and Scooter Park.

The effective and practical bike repair stations at parks around our shire were also set up by HLC.

The reason why Healthy Loddon Campaspe knows these initiatives will help improve our health and wellbeing is because every few years they ask you what we need, in the Active Living Census.

It's a survey about how we exercise, eat, how happy we are – and maybe some of the habits we'd like to overcome.

Plus there's over $10,000 in prizes to be won – just for having a go!

Keep an eye out for this one – it's really important to make your contribution because ultimately, it will help all of us live healthier, happier lives.

The survey opens on Monday 26 May at: go.healthyloddoncampaspe.au/alc
