Melbourne Cricket Education Academy graduate Lily Osborn is continuing to build her career in sport after earning a scholarship to participate in Play Like a Girl's Empowered to Lead program.
Since graduating from the Melbourne Cricket Education Academy in 2024, Lily has worked in student recruitment at Cricket Victoria, a role that has enabled her to gain valuable industry experience while pursuing her passion for sport.
Her development recently continued through Empowered to Lead, a six-week program designed to build the confidence and leadership capabilities of women in sport while helping participants grow their professional networks.
"It was an incredible opportunity that I am very grateful to have been given," Lily said.
The program provided Lily with an opportunity to further develop the skills needed to communicate confidently, lead with purpose and positively influence those around her.
"To me, Empowered to Lead means being confident with words and actions, all with the intent to make a difference," she said.
Lily's journey demonstrates how pathway-focused education, practical experience and continued professional development can create meaningful career opportunities within the sporting industry.
The Melbourne Cricket Education Academy is delivered through a partnership between RMIT University and Cricket Victoria. The program gives students the opportunity to complete a dual Diploma of Business and Diploma of Leadership and Management while developing sought-after professional skills.
Students also gain hands-on experience in an elite sporting environment, learning alongside industry professionals and building connections that can support their future careers.
Lily's progression from MCEA student to Cricket Victoria employee and now an Empowered to Lead scholarship recipient, is a fantastic example of how investment in education and skills development can help people turn their passion for sport into a rewarding career.
