MCIU continue to investigation Avondale Heights collision

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a fatal collision in Avondale Heights this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Wood Street and Military Road following reports of a collision between a car and motorbike about 3.50pm.

A 25-year-old Beveridge woman who was a pillion passenger on the bike died at the scene.

The rider, a 24-year-old Heidelberg Heights man, was taken to hospital where he remains in a life-threatening condition.

The driver of the car, a 70-year-old Maribyrnong man, stopped at the scene and was not physically injured.

He has been interviewed by detectives and was released pending further enquiries.
