Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision in Shepparton last night.
Investigators have been told a green 2007 Ford Falcon sedan was travelling south on Wyndham Street when a pedestrian was struck, near the intersection of Rea Street, about 11pm.
The male pedestrian, who is believed to be aged in his 30s and is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.
The driver of the car, a 24-year-old man, stopped at the scene and was taken to hospital under police guard.
The Tatura man has since been interviewed by police and released pending further enquires.
Detectives are keen to speak to anyone who saw the movements of the pedestrian or Ford Falcon before the collision.
