Medical & Allied Health Services Cost Table Unveiled

WorkCover Queensland has finalised our review of the new Independent Medical and Allied Health Services Table of Costs for independent services provided under the Queensland workers' compensation scheme.

These services include:

  • Independent Medical Examinations
  • Permanent Impairment Assessments
  • Paper-Based Reviews.

These changes take effect from 1 January 2026 and reflect the maximum fees payable to approved providers on WorkCover Queensland's current Medical and Allied Health Services (MAHS) panel.

What's new?

  • Fee uplift: Fees for Independent Medical Examination (IME) and Permanent Impairment (PI) Assessment services have been increased to reflect current market expectations and support timely access to high-quality independent medical specialists.
  • Simplified fee structure: Examination and report services are now bundled into a single service fee, making billing requirements clearer and more straightforward.
  • Complexity-based fees and loadings: Fees now reflect the complexity of the assessment, supporting appropriate remuneration for more complex cases.
  • Transition from time-based to page-count reading: Pre-reading time is now incorporated based on page count, reducing administrative work and the need for additional approvals or clarifications.

How to access the new Table of Costs

This new Table of Costs is available under Fees on our website. Updated files for self-insurers and practice management software are also available.

Please note: Additional amendments to item numbers and/or fees may occur after 1 January 2026. Refer to our Fees page for the most up to date information.
