Meekatharra Land Search

Police from the Mid West – Gascoyne District conducted a land search operation over the weekend for two men who were believed to be prospecting in an area about 100km north of Meekatharra yesterday, Sunday 21 August 2022.

The manager of a campsite notified police last night that a 73-year-old man, and his friend aged in his 50s, had failed to return from what was meant to be a short prospecting activity during the day.

Police attended the area and commenced a land search operation.

About 8:30am today information was received that the two men had arrived back at the homestead where they were staying at. It was established their four-wheel drive vehicle had experienced two flat tyres. They decided to stay where they were overnight and made their way back in the morning.

Police attended the campsite to check on their welfare.
