A Footscray man has leaped into 2024 as a multi-millionaire, thanks to the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw, turning the last day of 2023 into an unforgettable one.
The Victorian man was one of the four Victorians who bagged $2.3 million each in TattsLotto draw 4429 on December 30, 2023.
The winner, overcome with emotion and laughter, revealed the special significance of his winning numbers.
“My dad used to play these numbers,” the winner shared.
“They were lucky numbers for dad. Last week, I saw the Megadraw was coming up, and I thought I’ll have to play dad’s numbers.
“It’s just awesome!
“The last day of 2023! It’s a great day to discover a big win.
“I don’t know what I’ll do with the prize just yet. I’ll need time to think, but it’s going to be a great 2024!”
The man’s winning marked 12-game entry was purchased at Footscray Lotto, 151 Hopkins Street, Footscray.
Footscray Lotto owner Cynthia Lam said she thought she was dreaming when she first heard her outlet had sold a division one winning ticket.
“We are so pleased that someone won division one from our store. It's a nice reminder to buy local and support small businesses. You never know; one day, it could be you,” she said.
“The last time we sold a division one winning ticket was in 2019. Back then, that customer also won playing his favourite numbers.
“To our latest winner, I hope you enjoy this new year's luck! New year, new you! I hope it will make your life more relaxing and enjoyable.”
Saturday Lotto draw 4429's winning numbers were 39, 38, 3, 2, 11, and 23, with 22 and 35 as supplementary numbers. The draw witnessed winners across Australia, including four each from New South Wales and Victoria, two from Western Australia, and one each from Queensland, South Australia, and the Northern Territory.
