Melbourne sexual assault

Detectives from Melbourne Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team are appealing for information following a sexual assault in Melbourne last month.

Investigators have been told a woman in her 20s was walking on the south side of Flinders Street, between King and William streets, about 2.15am on Sunday 24 January.

A passing car stopped and offered the woman a lift.

She got into the vehicle which drove around for a while before she was sexually assaulted.

She managed to get out of the car and it drove off.

Detectives wish to speak to anyone who may have been in the area at the time and particularly wish to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage taken in the area or surrounds at the time.
