Melton City Council has adopted its 2026/2027 Budget, to deliver responsible investment to support one of Australia's fastest-growing communities, while keeping focus on supporting residents.
At the centre of the Budget is a $258.7 million capital works program, one of the largest of any Victorian council, focused on delivering the roads, infrastructure, and facilities the City needs now and into the future.
Funding has been committed to continue delivery on two city significant projects, the Cobblebank Community Hub and the Aquatic and Leisure Centre in Fraser Rise, scheduled for completion in late 2026 and 2028 respectively.
A total of 64 community-identified priorities have been funded, including improvements to local roads and pathways, open space, parks and recreational facilities.
Of note in the 2026/2027 capital works program is:
- $106.4 million for the new aquatic and leisure centre in Fraser Rise
- $10 million to complete the Cobblebank Community Hub
- Upgrades to Taylors Road, including duplication between City Vista Court and Westwood Drive, and upgrading Boundary Road from the Mall to Hopkins Road in Mount Cottrell.
- A new roundabout at Leakes Road and Westcott Parade, Rockbank
- New children's and community centres in Diggers Rest and Rockbank
- Playspace upgrades at Taylors Hill Sports Park and Springlake Village Park, Caroline Springs
- New pitches at Blackwood Drive Recreation Reserve
- Construction of the Mt Atkinson East Sports Reserve.
Average rates in 2026/2027 will increase by 2.75 per cent, in line with the Victorian Government's rate cap, supporting the continued delivery of more than 100 services and programs for the City's residents. Council is also investing in expanding its customer hardship program to support those in genuine need.
