I extend my best wishes to the Jewish Australian community coming together to celebrate Chanukah, the Festival of Lights.
Chanukah is a time of gathering, dedication and remembrance. It is a time to celebrate the victory of light over darkness and the survival and resilience of the Jewish people amidst great adversity.
Australia's diversity is one of our greatest national strengths and nothing is stronger than the hope we give to each other during our times of greatest need. We are reminded at this time that it is important to see the light in everyone, inclusive of all cultures and religions.
Over the eight nights and days, may the glow of each candle on the menorah help fill your hearts with warmth and light.
