Michael Hawkins Recognised during King's Birthday Celebrations

Cricket Victoria would like to celebrate Michael Hawking, who was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for his service to cricket, and to sports administration at the Kings Birthday celebration on Monday.

As a player with Hallam Cricket Club, Hawking claimed more than 400 wickets and was awarded the Wookey Medal as the Dandenong District Cricket Association's Best and Fairest player in 1992-93.

Off the field, his contribution has been equally significant. Hawking served as President of the Dandenong District Cricket Association for 18 years, helping guide the competition through a period of substantial growth and development. Under his leadership, the DDCA expanded opportunities for players of all ages, strengthened junior pathways, introduced new competitions, and championed the growth of women's and girls' cricket.

In 2025, Hawking became the first person elevated to "Legend" status in the DDCA Hall of Fame, recognising his extraordinary contribution to the association and the game.

Cricket Victoria extends its sincere congratulations to Michael Hawking and thanks him for his lifelong dedication to the growth and success of cricket.
