Millhaven Inmate Dies 7 May

On May 5, 2026, Darian Daignault, an inmate from Millhaven Institution, died in hospital following injuries sustained during an altercation involving other inmates.

The Joint Forces Penitentiary Squad and the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) are currently investigating. No staff members were injured during this incident.

At the time of death, the inmate was 28 years old and had been serving a sentence of 10 years, 2 months and 26 days, since July 11, 2019.

The inmate's next of kin has been notified.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, CSC will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
