Milvale Road Industrial Area pavement upgrade

Hilltops Council

Council is pleased to announce that works have commenced on the first stage of pavement upgrade works to Milvale Road in Young.

The first stage of these works is located between Rockdale Road and Wickham Lane.

It is expected that the first phase of works will take approximately three weeks to complete.

Motorists are asked to exercise caution in the area and adhere to traffic control.

We thank businesses affected by these works for their continued patience while improvements are made.

Hilltops Mayor Brian Ingram said "I have been advocating for these upgrades for a long time and I am very pleased to see progress. I thank the Federal Government for their support to enable these staged safety and productivity improvements for the Young Industrial Area."

The overall project is to reconstruct the pavement on Milvale Road from Penrose Bridge to Chillingworks Road. This project will also provide a sealed shoulder area for heavy vehicle parking, a designated B Double decouple area on Old Temora Road and the construction of a truck driver access only toilet and shower block near the B Double uncouple area. A fast fill water outlet for bulk tankers is also being incorporated into the project, replacing the current access point on the Olympic Highway , south of Young. Stormwater drainage improvement will also be incorporated into the project.

The Australian Government, under the Heavy Vehicle Safety and Productivity Program, is contributing $952,343 to this $2,254,686 project. The remainder is being co funded by Hilltops Council and the Department of Transport.
