Minister for Primary Industry and Resources leads Delegation to Indonesia

The Minister for Primary Industry and Resources will be travelling to Indonesia on Friday to promote the Northern Territory livestock industry.

Minister Kirby will meet with key Indonesian representatives to further the Northern Territories reputation as a supplier of choice for live cattle and buffalo, with Indonesia being largest importer of NT buffalo.

Minister Kirby and his delegation will attending the biennial Indonesia-Australia Business Council Conference to further develop the relationship between the NT Government and the Government of Indonesia, a conference which Darwin will host in October 2020.

The Minister will also visit several livestock feedlots and discuss other current and emerging issues around live export trade and agriculture.

This visit to Indonesia strengthens cultural ties while continuing discussions new and existing on business, trade and investment opportunities.

As stated by Minister for Primary Industry and Resources Paul Kirby:

"The Northern Territory and Indonesia have had a long-term and close-working relationship for many years.

"The focus of this trip is to strengthen those relationships and explore what opportunities exist for the Northern Territory, particularly for export and job creation.

"Live export is very important to the Northern Territory economy and I look forward to my first official visit to Indonesia as one of our largest trading partners to further discussions with the industry."
