Police will prepare a report for the Coroner in relation to the death of missing Newcastle man Jayden Penno-Tompsett.
Mr Penno-Tompsett, aged 22 at the time, was last was last seen in the early hours of 31 December, 2017 in the vicinity of a roadhouse located on Thompson Street (Flinders Highway) in Charters Towers.
An extensive multi-agency land search was conducted over several days in January, 2018 but he was never found.
On 20 October, 2025, suspected human remains were discovered at a rural property in Breddan near Charters Towers.
The identification of the remains was subject to forensic DNA analysis.
On 23 January, 2026, forensic analysis supported findings that the remains were that of Mr Penno-Tompsett.
A coronial investigation is ongoing.
