Missing man located at Coorong, South Australia

A man missing in the Coorong region south east of Adelaide since yesterday afternoon has just been found safe and well.

Just after 11.30pm on Friday 9 January, police were alerted to a man missing in the Coorong, after his 4WD got bogged in soft sand on Kartoo Road at around 4pm.

The 59-year-old man from Murray Bridge left his wife in the bogged 4WD to look for help, he was last seen walking north along Kartoo Road carrying a one litre water container.

Local shack owners found the woman and freed the bogged vehicle last night and the alarm was raised when the man couldn't be located.

The Police helicopter PolAir searched the area last night without luck.

Police and SES volunteers started a full scale search of the Coorong first light this morning.

Just after 7am this morning, PolAir spotted the missing man from the air and has transported him back to the forward command post at Meningie where he will checked by ambulance officers.
