Police Minister Michelle Roberts has urged Western Australians to spare a thought for missing people and their loved ones during National Missing Persons Week.
Every year, WA Police conduct dozens of investigations and in most cases are able to reunite missing people with their loved ones.
Western Australia currently has 330 recorded Long Term Missing Persons cases - individuals who have been missed by someone for 90 days or longer.
During this year's National Missing Persons Week, the National Missing Persons Coordination Centre is featuring long-term missing person cases from different jurisdictions around Australia.
The WA Police Force has nominated Simon Harrington, who disappeared from his home in Coogee in January 2011.
Mr Harrington's vehicle was later located in the vicinity of Shark Bay in March that same year.
He has not been seen or heard from since.
A National Missing Persons Memorial Service will be held in Mandurah for all families of missing people on Friday, August 7.
As stated by Police Minister Michelle Roberts:
"We know that people go missing for a number of reasons - and in most cases the missing person is located within 48 hours.
"But when a person goes missing for an extended period, the pain of not knowing what has happened to a loved one can be devastating.
"Every missing person is someone's son, daughter, husband or wife, father or mother, brother or sister.
"Somewhere in the community there are people who might have the answers to find these missing people
"The smallest piece of information may potentially be the key to unravelling a mystery that can lead to answers for heartbroken families or friends.
"I urge anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers."
