Missing three-year-old Anthony AJ Elfalak located: Police

NSW Police says missing three-year-old Anthony "AJ" Elfalak has been located after he went missing from his home at a rural property in the Hunter region on Friday.

He was spotted by a helicopter near a creek bank and rescued then by SES volunteers.

"Missing three-year-old boy Anthony ‘AJ’ Elfalak has been located a short time ago. He is yet to be assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics. More info to come," NSW Police said at 11.45am on Monday. 

AJ, who is on the autism spectrum and is non-verbal, went missing last week from his family's rural property at Putty.

The circumstances of AJ’s disappearance remain a mystery. 

Premier Gladys Berejiklian was asked about reports the boy had been found at her 11am press conference on Monday.

“I don’t know if that’s the case," she said. 

Just before 12.30pm Friday 3 September 2021, officers from Hunter Valley Police District responded to reports a child was missing at a rural property on Yengo Drive, Putty, about 75km south of Singleton.

Anthony ‘AJ’ Elfalak, aged three, could not be located after he was last seen at a home on the property about 11.45am.

Officers commenced a coordinated multi-agency response which includes Trailbike officers, Police Rescue, The Dog Unit, Police divers, and PolAir.
