Model Y Breaks Aussie Sales Record, Tesla, Polestar Up 62%

Headline results:

  • Tesla and Polestar have delivered a record-breaking first half of 2026, with combined new vehicle sales* reaching 24,790 in the six months to June 30 - 62% higher than the same period last year.
  • Tesla recorded 8,670 new vehicle sales in June, comfortably surpassing its previous monthly record of 6,433 sales set in May, and almost doubling the 4,589 sales recorded in June 2025.
  • The Tesla Model Y - Australia's number one selling car in May - reached another all-time high in June, with 8,072 sales. That represents a 44% increase on the previous monthly record of 5,605 sales recorded in May.
  • Polestar continued to build momentum, with year-to-date sales now above 1,200 vehicles. Growth has been driven by the Polestar 4, which recorded 902 sales - 33% higher than last year.
  • EV sales growth for the fist half of 2026 was broad-based, with Tesla and Polestar sales increasing in every State and Territory. All markets except Tasmania and Western Australia recorded gains of more than 64%.
