Monash University has retained its top-50 university rank in the prestigious QS World University Rankings (WUR) 2026. Monash continues to rise in the prestigious ranking, increasing one position from last year to place equal 36th globally, its best performance in the ranking to date.

The latest QS World University Rankings reinforce Monash's reputation for academic excellence and ongoing research impact among the 1501 institutions ranked across 106 countries.

Monash University Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Sharon Pickering said the result demonstrates the impact of the University's unwavering commitment to delivering excellent research and education.

"Achieving even a single-step increase in global university rankings is incredibly difficult, particularly within the highly competitive top 50. Every step forward reflects significant, sustained effort on the part of Monash's people to deliver excellence in research and education that is transforming lives and positively shaping the future.

"The strength of Monash's performance is a demonstration of our dedication to purpose - to realise social and technological transformation to meet the challenges of the age for the aspiring communities and industries around us. We do this through enriching educational experiences, research that pushes boundaries and improves the human condition, and through working with our partners around the world," Professor Pickering said.

This result, and the latest release of the US News Global University Rankings 2025-26 which ranked Monash 38th further strengthens Monash's growing reputation as a top-50 global university, achieving amazing results in more than 60 years.
