Monash University is proud to launch its new Strategic Plan, Impact 2030.
Impact 2030 signals a commitment by Monash to addressing the global challenges of our age – climate change, geopolitical security and thriving communities – and how we shape and connect to these challenges through our education, research and services.
Evolving from the achievements and profile developed from the University's previous strategic plan, Impact 2030 has a 10-year horizon (2021-2030) and is purpose-driven to deliver a positive impact on these global challenges for the communities in which we study, work, live and engage.
Monash University President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Margaret Gardner AC said Impact 2030 is a plan of action which tells a story of the University's aspirations, capabilities and ambitions.
"Impact 2030 charts the path for how Monash will actively contribute to addressing the global challenges through our research and education, and in collaboration with government, industry and community," Professor Gardner said.
"In 2030, when we look out at Monash, we will hope to have taken this plan and made a change for the better through our impact on the challenges of the age.
"This impact will not only be something recognised within the University, but something realised in the communities with which we engage. And it is through real, tangible and significant impact to which we will have contributed through our education, research and operations, that climate change, geopolitical security and thriving communities will have been tackled."
Working collaboratively with academic and professional staff across faculties and portfolios, and with our wider community of students, alumni and industry partners, Monash will ensure current and prospective students enjoy a rich education experience of the highest international quality.
Additionally, our research agenda will support the direction of Impact 2030, building upon our research excellence, through larger programs engaging with other organisations on discovery, translation and impact.
"It will be even more important that we continue to draw on our international profile, enterprising partnerships and research-infused experiences to ensure our response to major challenges are built on a truly global perspective," Professor Gardner said.
"We will build stronger platforms for engagement that draw on the power of diversity in our students and staff, and of the wider Monash community, to shape our responses to the global challenges."
Impact 2030 is supported by the University's four strategic goals of being excellent, international, enterprising and inclusive, which serve as crucial directional pillars. Additionally, our six values of discovering, learning, being purposeful, collaborative, honest and fair define a culture that is consistent with the questing and questioning modernism of the University's foundations, as well as the commitment to engagement with others and to our purpose of our future aspirations.
This Strategic Plan is the culmination of extensive consultation with members of the Monash community over the past 12 months. Feedback from stakeholders, including staff, students, alumni and industry partners, provided valuable perspectives which have been incorporated into the final plan.
