As part of ongoing investigations to disrupt Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs (OMCGs), Detectives from the Crime and Intelligence Command's, Taskforce Maxima South East Region have today arrested four Mongols OMCG members and one associate.
A 29-year-old man and Mongols OMCG member was remanded in custody for one charge of extortion after a search warrant was executed on his Pimpana residence.
Following a search warrant today at a Gold Coast residence, a 48-year-old Helensvale man and Mongols OMCG member was charged with assault of a police officer as a result on an incident on April 23 when police attended his residence to issue an official consorting notice. He is due to reappear at the Southport Magistrates Court on June 1.
Maxima officers also attended residential addresses at Labrador and Biggera Waters, charging a 27-year-old Biggera Waters man and Mongols OMCG associate and 31-year-old Southport man and Mongols OMCG member with habitual consorting. The pair have been remanded in custody to appear at Southport Magistrates Court at a later date.
Following the day of tactical action, a 32-year-old man and Mongols OMCG member presented himself to Southport Police Station where he was subsequently arrested and charged for a breach of bail.
Detective Senior Sergeant Troy Lehmann of Taskforce Maxima said police will continue to pursue OMCG members on the Gold Coast who consort as a deterrent from establishing, maintaining or expanding criminal networks.
"The relentless pursuit of offences committed by OMCGs is in line with our commitment to make the Queensland community safe," Detective Senior Sergeant Lehmann said.
