More Charges Laid in Tamworth Fire Station Break-Ins

A man has been charged following an ongoing investigation into the theft of property from eight NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) stations across the Tamworth area.

Officers attached Oxley Police District commenced an investigation after multiple RFS stations in Tamworth had been broken into over a 8-month period.

In May this year, officers executed a search warrant and seized property at Tamworth. A 18-year-old man was charged and he remains before the courts.

Following further inquiries, officers executed a search warrant at a property on Balala Road, Balala, on Thursday 22 June 2023, about 11.15am.

Officers located and seized a large quantity of tools, ammunition, hoses, radios and portable fridges.

Police will allege the property is linked to eight RFS sheds in Watson Creek, Duri, Namoi River, Gowrie, Dungowan, Currabubula, Loomberah and Tamworth, and two commercial property break and enters over the past 8 months.

Investigators attended a home on Venness Street, Tamworth, and arrested a 23-year-old man about 9.35am yesterday (Tuesday 27 June 2023).

He was taken to Tamworth Police Station and charged with dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception, larceny and goods suspected stolen in/on premises.

The man was granted conditional bail to appear at Tamworth Local Court on Monday 17 July 2023.
