The Andrews Labor Government is supporting Victorians to practice and compete safely at shooting sports centres across the state.
Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence today announced 32 projects will share $4 million in the latest round of the Shooting Sports Facilities Program.
The grants enable clubs to improve the quality and safety of ranges, develop more secure storage, purchase equipment and conduct environmental protection works.
The grants also provide an opportunity for clubs to boost participation, accommodate people of all abilities and provide pathways from beginners to elite level competition.
Recipients include Morwell Gun Club which will receive $300,000 to upgrade clubrooms, kitchen and office areas.
Warrnambool Olympic Pistol Club will receive almost $20,000 to install solar power and Traralgon Pistol Club will receive more than $73,000 for an upgrade to the clubroom with improved lighting, better energy efficiency, reduced noise and climate control.
Since 2014 the program has benefited 236 projects with more than $17.4 million in funding to improve the quality and sustainability of shooting sports facilities and activities across the state.
Shooting sports clubs in Victoria have a strong history of nurturing local talents into world champions, such as 2016 Olympic trap shooting gold medallist Catherine Skinner and two-time Commonwealth gold medal winning trap shooter Laetisha Scanlan.
With Shooting and Shooting Para Sport events locked in for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, this investment will help establish even more quality shooting sports facilities where future champions can set their sights on reaching their potential in a range of shooting disciplines.
