Moreton Island - bushfire

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) crews continue to patrol and monitor a bushfire burning in bushland on Moreton Island. The blaze is burning within containment lines and there is no threat to property at this time. There are no longer separate bushfire warnings for Bulwer/Cowan, Tangalooma and campers on Moreton Island. Those who plan to camp on Moreton Island should follow the advice of QPWS, as closures may be in place: https://parks.des.qld.gov.au/park-alerts/ People in the area may be affected by smoke, which will reduce visibility and air quality. If affected, residents should close windows and doors. Those suffering from a respiratory condition are advised to keep their medications close by. Motorists should drive with caution and to conditions. If residents are concerned their property is under threat they are advised to call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
