46 community based, not-for-profit organisations will share in a total of $161,000 per year as part of the Mornington Peninsula Shire's three-year event funding program (2019 – 2022).

All applications were required to comply with a set of eligibility criteria and were assessed by a qualified panel of Shire officers before being submitted to Council for consideration and approval. Council approved the successful applicants at the 13 August Council meeting.

Mornington Peninsula Shire Mayor Councillor David Gill said the broad range of applications seeking funding was an indication of the vibrant and lively events culture we have here on the Peninsula.

"We encourage events that deliver safe, diverse, equitable, accessible, environmentally sustainable and economic opportunities and outcomes for our community and our many visitors".

"This important funding stream provides financial support that allows our community groups to run these events that enhance their local townships and our region as a whole".

The current program provides yearly funding until 2022.
