As part of efforts to strengthen regional cooperation in general, and particularly in the areas of institutional development, good governance, and public administration modernization, ESCWA facilitated the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on 13 October between Morocco's École Nationale de l'Administration (ENA) and the Somali National University (SNU) in Somalia.
The initiative aims to strengthen institutional cooperation and foster partnerships between education and training institutions specializing in public administration in both countries. The MoU, signed in Athens, Greece on the sidelines of the Rethinking Governance for a Changing World conference, provides a framework for cooperation and for the exchange of expertise, knowledge, and good practices in public administration modernization, leadership and management competency development, and institutional capacity-building. These efforts will contribute to advancing administrative reform and improving the performance of public institutions.
This initiative reflects the role of ESCWA in facilitating dialogue and cooperation among Arab national institutions and promoting the exchange of experiences and expertise across Arab countries, thereby supporting the development of public administrations that are more efficient, effective, and responsive to citizens' needs.
