A teenage motorbike rider has been taken to hospital in a serious condition after attempting to evade police and crashing in Croydon North this morning, Victoria Police say.
The 16-year-old was riding an allegedly unregistered motorbike north along Dorset Road when he was detected by police about 12.30am.
The rider attempted to evade police and lost control at the intersection of Dorset Road and Maroondah Highway where he crashed into a pole.
Police came across the crash and raised the alarm.
The Major Collision Investigation Unit is currently at the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
Anyone who observed the motorcycle before the crash or who witnessed the crash or who may have dash cam footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
