A motorbike rider has died following a collision in Ardeer this evening.
Police have been told the collision, between a Hilux refrigerated van and the motorcyclist, occurred at the intersection of Ballarat Road and Esmond Street about 5.30pm.
Sadly, the male rider died at the scene and his female pillion passenger has been taken to hospital with suspected critical injuries.
The female driver of the van has been taken to hospital for treatment.
Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are on the scene and are investigating.
Ballarat Road is currently closed to west bound traffic in the vicinity of the collision, and will be for some time, while detectives process the scene.
