A driver caught speeding 75 km/h above the sign-posted speed limit at Sandford has had his vehicle clamped for six months, and his licence disqualified for four months, as a result of his actions behind the wheel.
"Officers from Southern District Support Services were conducting mobile patrols in the Sandford area on Monday when they detected a green Holden Commodore travelling at 155 km/h in an 80 km/h zone," said Acting Sergeant Joshua McCarthy.
The vehicle was safely intercepted, with the man driving to receive a fine of $1224.75, six demerit points and a four-month licence disqualification. His vehicle has also been clamped for six months.
"Excess speed is a major contributor to serious and fatal crashes and police are disappointed that some members of the community continue to put themselves, and others, at risk with unsafe driving," said Acting Sergeant McCarthy.
