Mount Nancy Town Camp set for $6.4 million housing overhaul

NT Government

It's out with the old and in with the new at Alice Springs' Mount Nancy Town Camp, with the announcement of a $6.4 million investment to demolish seven old houses and build nine brand new homes.

The select tender to Tangentyere Constructions is part of a $40 million overhaul of housing across 11 town camps including Charles Creek, Hoppy's, Hidden Valley, Ilpeye Ilpeye, Warlpiri, Karnte, Larapinta Valley, Little Sisters, Morris Soak, and Trucking Yards.

The project, which is part of the Territory Labor Government's $2.1 billion remote housing program, will see the construction of 63 new homes in Alice Springs.

Tangentyere Constructions - a subsidiary of Tangentyere Council Aboriginal Corporation - has managed a range of building projects in the Central Australian region. Recently the company has worked on Room to Breathe projects at Areyonga, Pmara Jutunta, and Nturiya.

Quotes attributable to Minister for Housing and Homelands Selena Uibo:
