Monash Council's redevelopment of Mount Waverley Reserve, a new home for both the Waverley Blues Football Netball Club and Mount Waverley Cricket Club, has been acknowledged with nomination for the 2025 AFL Victoria Best Community Facilities Project Award.

Mount Waverley's new double-storey sports pavilion, officially opened in late August, features changerooms for players and umpires, a first aid room, kitchen, canteen, social rooms and a balcony with a view of the sportsground that will be the envy of visiting clubs and spectators for years to come.

Alongside the construction of the pavilion, the Mount Waverley Reserve Masterplan has also delivered upgrades to the sportsground and new lighting, a play space with nature play and a trampoline, cricket practice facilities and a new public toilet. Work on a new car park for visitors is underway and will be finished soon.

Mount Waverley Cricket Club is already calling the upgraded reserve home for its summer season, while Waverley Blues Football Netball Club is set to train and play at the ground for the winter season in 2026.

The 2025 award winner will be selected by AFL Victoria and announced in the coming weeks.
