Mt Piper Broadford Children's Centre works begin

Work has begun on a $2 million expansion of the Mt Piper Family and Children's Centre in Broadford to cater for Mitchell's growing community and the introduction of free kindergarten for 3-and 4-year-olds.

This project will see the addition of a new 33 place kindergarten room, expanded Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Services, a new meeting room for early childhood and family services, a new facility entry, a large accessible foyer and additional car parks.

The $2.028 million project is made possible thanks to $1.763 million from the Victoria Government's Building Blocks Expansion Grant and $265,000 from Council.

While these new works are being undertaken, the Maternal and Child Health service will operate temporarily from the Broadford Living and Learning Centre for 2023.

The works also require changes to parking arrangements during construction.

Please be alert for vehicle and pedestrian movement in the proximity of the kindergarten, High Street and the school crossing in particular.

Council aims to complete works by mid-December

This project at Mt Piper Broadford Family and Children's Centre is one of many projects being delivered as part of Council's capital works program.

We have also had to expand other family and children's facilities and delivered in recent years works to Beveridge, Kilmore, Seymour, Wallan East and Wandong.
