The City of Logan's Sportsperson of the Year is used to the spotlight, but she doesn't seek it out.
Munruben nak muay (Muay Thai fighter) and multiple world title holder Kim Townsend credits her success to nothing more than hard work, and determination.
She says the attention she gains is a surprising, but wonderful, outcome.
"It means a lot (to be recognised) because I kind of fly under the radar," Kim said.
"I'm not one to put myself out there and advertise myself on social media or anything, so when I get recognition, it always feels good because I've got it because of my hard work."
The 2022 City of Logan Sports Awards were held at the Logan Entertainment Centre last night.
Kim, who also added City of Logan Sportswoman of the Year to her long list of accolades, trains daily alongside her partner and coach Chris Johnstone (also a 2022 Sports Awards nominee) at their home-based gym in Munruben.
She has claimed four world titles over her 12-year fighting career and is the first person to simultaneously hold two WBC titles in different weight classes.
City of Logan Mayor Darren Power said her success was an inspiration to aspiring sportspeople everywhere.
"It is a privilege to bestow our City's highest sporting honour on Kim this year," Cr Power said.
"Her success on the international muay thai stage is phenomenal and reflects the enormous effort she has put into her sport over many years.
"We are very proud to have Kim represent the City of Logan and we cannot wait to see what other titles she will claim in the future."
The night's other high honour was claimed by Logan Thunder basketballer Boston Mazlin, who was named Sportsman of the Year.
Boston, who was recently named NBL1 Player of the Round, is a new member of the Australia Emus U19 squad and has been invited to attend an upcoming selection camp for the Brisbane Bullets.
City Lifestyle Chair, Councillor Laurie Koranski said all of this year's award winners deserved the community's congratulations, and thanks.
"The City of Logan sporting community is rich in talented, driven people who continue to amaze us every day," Cr Koranski said.
"Every year, our Awards are an important opportunity to recognise the incredible prowess of our sports stars and show them our gratitude for inspiring our up-and-coming athletes."
