MUHC responds to emergency situation

McGill University

An emergency situation was launched during the early hours of the morning today at the Glen site of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). Reports of gunshots heard at the south exterior of the hospital, near St-Jacques Street. Shortly thereafter the hospital went into lockdown, and the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) arrived on the scene. The emergency code was lifted at around 4:30 a.m., with the safe resumption of all patient care and regular activities.

The police investigation will continue at the back of the hospital, which will remain closed until further notice.

Please note that some delays may be expected today at the Glen site. We ask members of the public to use public transportation as much as possible.

As this is an evolving situation, we will continue to provide more information as we receive it.

Thank you for your cooperation.
