Murder charge laid after man's death in CBD

A man will appear in court today charged with murder following the suspicious death of a man at Haymarket yesterday morning.

About 3.15am (Sunday 4 April 2021), emergency services were called to serviced apartments on Castlereagh Street, after a man was found unconscious in a hallway on the 13th floor.

Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command found a 43-year-old man unresponsive. Despite CPR being performed, the man was unable to be revived and died at the scene.

A 20-year-old man was arrested nearby and taken to Day Street Police Station.

Police will allege in court the men were involved in a physically altercation in the hallway before the injured man was found unresponsive.

The man was charged with murder.

He has been refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Monday 5 April 2021).

Police are not seeking any other parties in relation to the incident.
