Cairns will become a music mecca this summer with Cairns Summer Sounds 2023 announcing a line-up that will make the region's summer sizzle. A stellar cast of live acts, including, Thundamentals, The Cat Empire, Dami Im, Jessica Mauboy, Eric Bibb, and Stella Donnelly, will perform across seven different events in Cairns, bringing the tropics alive with big beats and vibrancy.

With the legendary line-up performing at two of Cairns' most well-known live entertainment venues, the Tanks Arts Centre, and the Cairns Performing Arts Centre (CPAC), the Cairns Summer Sounds season will continue to be the liveliest time of the year in Cairns.

Hip-hop heavyweights Thundamentals will open the series at the Tanks Arts Centre on Friday 13 January, celebrating the release of their new album All This Life. Joining them for a massive, highly entertaining concert will be Solo from Horrorshow, who will bring his incredible vocals and energy to the group.

Multi-instrumental dynamos The Cat Empire will be bringing their feel-good, high-energy, smile-inducing music to the Tanks with two performances on Friday 3 and Saturday, 4 February. Known for their infectious grooves, unique voice and charismatic style, The Cat Empire's new line-up is sure to be a hit with audiences. This special event will celebrate the end of the band's incredible 21-year history with a new collaborative line-up, a new album, and a new live show.

Felix Reibl, the charismatic frontman of The Cat Empire, is looking forward to returning to the stunning surroundings and intimate atmosphere of the Tanks in February. "Over the years, we've spent a lot of time in Cairns, and we can't wait to come back in February. I love the Tanks for so many reasons - it's an unbelievable venue with such a special soul.", says Felix.

Two of Australia's hottest stars hit the stage at the Cairns Performing Arts Centre. Vocal powerhouse and Australian Eurovision superstar Dami Im will command the CPAC stage with her extraordinary voice on Saturday, 11 February, while Multiple ARIA award-winning R&B-pop artist Jessica Mauboy is set to bring the heat with her CPAC performance on 18 February.

Grammy-nominated acclaimed bluesman Eric Bibb will come riding into the Tanks, introducing his much-anticipated forthcoming album titled Ridin. This blues legend, who has performed alongside greats such as Ray Charles and George Benson, will be offering the Cairns Summer Sounds audience an intimate treat on Friday, 24 February.

The last headlining act for the 2023 Cairns Summer Sounds series will be Stella Donnelly, one of our nation's best songwriters. On Saturday, March 4, at the Tanks Arts Centre, she will delicately wrap up the series with her warm personality and songs from her most recent, critically praised album Flood.

Cairns Summer Sounds will run from January through the beginning of March and will offer a wide range of musical flavours and sounds to suit fans of all genres.

With over 6,000 music lovers expected to attend, the ever-expanding Cairns Summer Sounds is quickly turning into a magnet for tourists to the area, enhancing the city's standing as a vacation spot with both entertainment and scenic attractions.
