Police can now release the name of the man who died after getting into difficulty in the water at Makorori, north of Gisborne on 15 September.
He was Isaac Miles Brown, aged 33.
Our thoughts are with Mr Brown's family and loved ones at this difficult time.
The death will be referred to the Coroner.
