Narrandera Shire Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Timothy Coote as its new General Manager, commencing on 27 October 2025. Mr Coote brings a wealth of experience in executive leadership within local government, most recently serving as Chief Executive Officer of the District Council of Ceduna in South Australia.
Mayor Neville Kschenka said Council was looking forward to working with Mr Coote to continue delivering strong outcomes for the Narrandera community.
"Tim is a great leader with a deep commitment to transparency, collaboration and community engagement," said Mayor Kschenka.
"His experience across regional councils and major infrastructure projects, as well as his strong focus on professional development and team building makes him a great fit for Narrandera Shire. We are excited to welcome him and his fresh perspective to the role."
Mr Coote has extensive experience leading high-performing teams and delivering community-focused initiatives. His leadership has driven major projects including the Ceduna Foreshore Precinct redevelopment and the Wulanda Recreation and Convention Centre in Mount Gambier. He also played a key role representing the South Australian Government during the Whyalla Steelworks' voluntary administration, working with multiple stakeholder groups under significant pressure to support regional outcomes.
Mr Coote said he was looking forward to the opportunity to contribute to Narrandera Shire.
"I am passionate about regional communities and excited to bring my experience and leadership to Narrandera," Mr Coote said.
"I believe in fostering a culture of honesty, accountability and collaboration, and I look forward to working with Council, staff, the community and stakeholders to support a strong and sustainable future for the Shire."
Mr Coote holds postgraduate qualifications in public sector management and was recognised with the highest academic award in South Australia for his cohort, a testament to his ongoing commitment to professional excellence.
The appointment follows the retirement of Mr George Cowan, who has served as General Manager of Narrandera Shire Council for over eight years.
Mayor Kschenka paid tribute to Mr Cowan's long and dedicated service.
"George has been an exceptional General Manager whose steady leadership and deep understanding of our region have contributed significantly to the progress of Narrandera Shire," he said.
"On behalf of Narrandera Shire Council and the community, I extend our heartfelt thanks to George and Shirley for their contribution to the Narrandera Shire and wish George all the best for a well-earned retirement.
