Join in the fun for the National Simultaneous Storytime at Macquarie Regional Library's Dubbo and Wellington branches on Wednesday 27 May 2026 at 12pm.
This year's National Simultaneous Storytime book is Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller by Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd and illustrated by Jake A Minton.
The Dubbo Library event will feature a guest reader from the John Moriaty Foundation while the Wellington Library event will feature a guest reader from the Wellington Warriors Football Club.
Macquarie Regional Library Children and Young People's Services Officer Suzie Samson said the National Simultaneous Storytime was a free session held at 12pm but library staff were encouraging families to arrive at 11:45am ready for the Storytime to start at 12pm.
"This year's book is about rookie captain Luna Roo who leaves nothing on the pitch as she leads FC Outback in a thrilling face-off against Bush United," Ms Samson said.
Luna Roo is faced with a spider goalkeeper, snakes in attack and bubbling nerves, and she must trust her skills and her teammates to soar to victory.
National Simultaneous Storytime is held each year by the Australian Library and Information Association and celebrates the joy of reading and storytelling.
Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, preschools and bookshops across the country.
Macquarie Regional Library also runs a regular Storytime session for children at Dubbo Library every Tuesday at 10:30am and Wellington Library every Wednesday at 11am during school terms.
