We will still see a few showers though, about parts of South Australia, southern Queensland, New South Wales and north-western Victoria. South of that, though, there is a trough approaching western parts of Tasmania that will bring a few showers into Tuesday evening. But the rest of the country, we do have a broad ridge of high pressure and that's maintaining mostly settled conditions across the east coast and the north and the west of the country. Daytime temperatures will be above average though across northern Queensland, but with cool southerly winds pushing up, daytime temperatures will be below average across central and northern parts of Western Australia.
A cold start with frost, temperatures dropping down to below 0°C and close to 0°C. The showers across the Channel Country to push across southern parts of the state through the afternoon, and for those across Brisbane and the Gold Coast, we may see a few light showers towards the evening. Elsewhere, a few showers and cloudy conditions across the tropical north, but daytime temperatures will be up to 8°C above average through the Gulf Country, but below average across south-eastern parts of the state. For Brisbane, a partly cloudy day, a possible shower late at night with a top of 22°C, a shower or two in Cairns with a top of 29.
In New South Wales, you will see a few showers developing across the far north-west of the state. They'll push eastwards through the day and by the evening most districts west of the divide will see a few light showers. Heaviest falls are most likely through the Sunraysia and also western Riverina, and for those along the east coast, there is a slight chance of a shower at night, but that's more likely on Wednesday, including for Sydney with a top of 19°C. You will see snow above about 1200 metres through the Alps, and in Canberra, possible late showers with a top of 13.
For Victoria we will see south-westerly winds along the coast bring a few showers, including for Melbourne, and then into the afternoon showers will build across the Mallee and push down into the north-west of the state. Snow is possible above about 1200m in the morning, but otherwise it will be quite a cool cold day. 14°C in Melbourne with a few showers and just 13°C in Mildura with those showers developing through the day.
For Tasmania, a few showers about the west and the south of the state in the morning, they'll gradually contract away. But as that trough moves up from the south, it will see a few more showers developing across the far south-west of the state during the evening. Snow is possible about the Central Highlands, but otherwise we are looking at a dry and mostly sunny afternoon across the east coast. For Hobart, a possible morning shower or two with a top of 12°C.
For South Australia that low pressure system is driving widespread showers for central and eastern districts. The northern agricultural areas look to fare better than the southern agricultural areas, so we are mostly looking at falls between 5 to 15mm for the Eyre Peninsula, the Mid North and the Riverland. Rainfall totals do gradually taper off towards the south-east of the state though. So for Adelaide only expecting a few showers and a cold day with just 13°C. Cool to cold elsewhere. But we are looking at a sunny day across the northern parts of the state.
Showers about the south coast that could push inland into the Goldfields and southern Wheatbelt into the afternoon. But gradually we are on an easing trend, with showers contracting away as we head into Tuesday night. It will be a cold start to the Gascoyne though with some frost, but otherwise daytime temperatures will be slightly above what we have seen over the last few days, including Perth with a cool start, 5°C but then a partly cloudy day with a top of 17. Little bit milder across the Pilbara.
Finally, for northern Australia, we'll see dry conditions through the interior, but just a few passing showers about the Top End, temperatures above average through parts of the NT but below average for parts of the Kimberley. In Darwin, partly cloudy with a top of 31°C.
