NATO

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg participated in the NATO Youth Summit on Monday (05 June 2023), an event bringing together young leaders in Brussels and Washington, D.C. to discuss and explore critical issues for global security, from disinformation to the latest technologies, and from climate change to national defence.

In a moderated conversation with Dr. Kira Allman, incoming Director of Partnerships & Communications at the William & Mary Global Research Institute, the Secretary General talked about maintaining NATO unity over the years, and tackling security challenges from Russia's war in Ukraine to terrorism, climate change and disruptive technologies. He emphasised, "Unity is our biggest strength."

The 2023 NATO Youth Summit was organised by the NATO Public Diplomacy Division in partnership with the College of William & Mary, with the theme "NextGen Freedom and Security." The Youth Summit's panel discussions covered security challenges including hybrid threats, space and disinformation. The Summit featured a number of speakers from across NATO's 31 Allied countries, as well as from Sweden and Ukraine.
