Neighbours star Takaya Honda gets set to MC Canberra Memory Walk & Jog

Network Ten Neighbours star Takaya Honda is gearing up to host the 2019 Canberra Memory Walk & Jog.

Mr Honda is no stranger to the Memory Walk & Jog having attended multiple events in the past, and will be swapping his joggers for the mic when he steps up to act as Master of Ceremonies for the Canberra event, on Sunday 24 February 2019 at Lake Burley Griffin, Barrine Drive, Canberra.
Takaya explained that since his mother was diagnosed with younger onset dementia in her early 50s, his family has received wonderful support from the community and from Dementia Australia.
"Participating in events like Memory Walk & Jog provides an opportunity to help raise awareness and reduce the stigma associated with dementia," Mr Honda said.
"Most importantly, we want to encourage people to seek support early if they are experiencing symptoms of the condition.
"I want to ensure that everyone who is impacted by dementia receives the invaluable care and support that my family received when my mum was diagnosed."
Memory Walk & Jog raises much-needed funds to support the work of Dementia Australia, which provides invaluable support, education and resources for people living with dementia in Australia, their carers, families and friends.
This year, participants can choose to take part in 2km, 5km or 10km walk, jog or run, and are invited to help reach the national $1.5 million fundraising target. All funds raised will benefit Dementia Australia services in the Australian Capital Territory.
Memory Walk & Jog is a fun event for all ages. The course is family-friendly, and, no matter your age or level of fitness, everyone is encouraged to participate and join in the fun. You can even register a place for your dog, who will receive a free Memory Walk & Jog bandana.
There will be prizes for the top fundraisers, as well as raffles, plenty of entertainment, food stalls, a jumping castle and a special guest appearance from Memory Walk & Jog mascot, Al the Elephant.
Registration is now open for Canberra Memory Walk & Jog. Register today for Dementia Australia's biggest fundraiser of the year at www.memorywalk.com.au/events/9/canberra
